The 2009 American Dahlia Society National Show

What a wonderful show we had for our 100th anniversary! The 43rd American Dahlia Society National show was hosted by the Snohomish County Dahlia Society in honor of our club being the first dahlia society in North America to have 100 consecutive dahlia shows.

The weather cooperated and we couldn't have had a more glorious weekend to host our event. The bloom count for the show was a little below what was expected because of the unseasonably hot weather we endured in late July, but we still had about 4,000 blooms.

Buz Carter won best single bloom entry in the show with a stunning Kenora Challenger. Buz has garnered many best in show awards including several at national shows, but prior to this year he had never won at his home club. Congratulations Buz! Steve Santose won the best triple entry in the show with three magnificent blooms of Inland Dynesty. Margaret Kennedy from the Portland Dahlia Society walked away with two major awards. She not only had the best basket in show, but also the best arrangement.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our show a success!
