The 2008 Show

A wet and cold May followed by a very cool June created the latest blooming gardens in recent memory here in the Pacific Northwest. Few flowers dotted the tables at the early shows and our mid-August show was only slightly better.

Like last year, however, the blooms that made it to the head table were outstanding. Denied the top prize last year with some great entries, Steve Santose was not to be denied again this year. His magnificent entry of Clearview Irene (B-SC-Y) was awarded best bloom in show. He won the best five-bloom entry in the show with five expertly matched blooms of Clearview Irene as well. Puget Sound Dahlia Association member, Jean Knutson, won the best triple entry with three superb blooms of Embrace. Gordon Jackman once again garnered the Best Arrangement in the show with his interpretation of "Chicago - The Sears Tower". Jim and Chris Stout from the Washington State Dahlia Society won the basket competition with a stunning basket of Aitara Caress.

Next year we will be celebrating our 100th anniversary show by hosting the American Dahlia Society National Show. We hope to see you all there!
